The Reality of Unfit Fire Fighters

Facing the reality that members of your department may not be in shape enough to do there jobs safetely and efficiently may go unnoticed. Most departments like ours have yearly medical physicals,  but do not require an agility to assess individual physical abilities. This becomes apparent when injury and illness claims increase year by year. My department approached it in the past with education on safety. That works well if it is a preventable cause, but if it is an underlying medical or physical inability, the only way to fix it is to become more fit. Implementing a Wellness and Fitness program will help mitigate the amount of comp claims coming through your department. We have only had our program in place for less than a year and have decreased the claims by half, lost over 2000lbs department wide, and increased our work efficiency by 75%. Not bad for the second largest department in the state of South Carolina.

TEAM HORRY

The South Carolina team of firefighters that call themselves TEAM HORRY are one of the hardest working members you'll ever meet. Like many other teams across the country, they have wives, kids, second and third jobs, as well they run there butts off during regular shifts. Not many get a chance to rest before coming to a training session. Link to competition team.  HCFRTeam

Satisfied Customers

Over 12 departments across South Carolina, 4 from North Carolina, 3 in Virginia, 3 in West Virginia, and many more are now using programs we have put together for them. Most seem to be interested in the recruit class development programs. The Job Oriented Skills Endurance Training (JOSET), and the Job-Related Ability Test (J-RAT) have also added to much success in Wellness programs. For information on these and other programs email the FFF.
